Dutch asbestos expertise becomes an international export

For over 25 years, the Netherlands has been working to implement a safe asbestos policy, refining and structuring its approach over time. Asbestos has been a key focus area for SGS since the material was banned in the Netherlands on 1 July 1993.

‘We are an active global player in this field’, says Nicolas Kyndt, Global Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety at SGS. ‘Our international experience has shown us that all countries have their own history with asbestos, and that there is huge variation in legislation and regulations across the world. Some countries have failed to legislate at all – a situation that we believe is completely unacceptable. This is why we recently launched our global asbestos campaign. Our extensive asbestos expertise has now become an international export.’
