A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reveals the environmental impact of a product or service throughout its entire life cycle: from raw material extraction to waste disposal. It precisely identifies when environmental effects occur, making it crucial for tenders where sustainability plays a significant role. Additionally, LCA aids in making products and production chains more sustainable.
During an LCA, we analyze energy and material usage, as well as emissions to air, water, and soil. These data are then translated into environmental impacts, such as greenhouse gas emissions, ozone depletion, and ocean acidification. The ultimate result is an environmental profile that serves as the basis for an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) or inclusion in the National Environmental Database (NMD).
International standards
Our research follows international standards such as ISO 14040, ISO 14044, and EN15804, as well as specific methods for the Dutch context, like the NMD determination method for construction products.
When is an LCA needed?
