Ceramic fibers, like glass and rock wool, are classified as Man-Made Mineral Fibers (MMMF). They are commonly found in installations containing heat-resistant insulation and reinforcement materials. Fibers can be released during processes such as friction, replacement, and maintenance. Prolonged exposure to these particles can be harmful if inhaled.
Guidelines for Ceramic Fibers
Dutch occupational health and safety regulations do not provide specific guidelines for ceramic fibers. However, there is an exposure limit of 0.5 fibers/cm³, which is higher than the European guideline of 0.3 fibers/cm³.
